NEAR recently completed a year-long, EPA-funded Area Wide Planning process for the 5-acre brownfield that was once home to RCA and 8,000 jobs. The vast property at Michigan St. and Sherman Drive is now vacant and being remediated for environmental contamination. The Sherman Park Reuse Plan calls for infrastructure investments to create an open, multi-use campus–welcoming light industry, commercial activity, and multi-family housing.
The Sherman Park reuse planning process engaged over 230 neighbors and citywide stakeholders in community engagement gatherings, a community-based Steering Committee, and meetings with neighborhood groups.
